Here Digital Optical Modules (DOMS) are being lowered into a 2.5 Km deep borehole in the Antarctic ice. These DOMS are part of the Ice Cube Neutrino Detector which is a 3D grid in the clear ice that detects light emitted when neutrinos interact with ice.
